What is Femo
and what does it stand for?

Femo was set up in 1992 and groups Belgian and Luxembourg producers of industrial cement-bonded mortars. The Federation strives to promote the quality and innovation of the products of its members, while supplying the necessary information to the users.

Different working parties within the Federation concentrate on specific topics: certification of the mortars, implementation of new European standards, communication in the field of safety, classification of the mortars, etc.

Mortar has already been used across the whole world for thousands of years. The mid-20th century saw the start of the industrial manufacture of mortars, paired with efforts to make the products easy to apply.

Since then the mortar industry has seen significant developments in both product innovation and product development, as well as in the field of quality standards
